R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Georgetown Police Chief Cory Tchida received the
  Citizen of the Year award from the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce
  during its annual gala on January 26, 2023; and
         WHEREAS, Each year, the chamber recognizes individuals and
  businesses for their outstanding achievements and for their efforts
  to benefit the local community; and
         WHEREAS, Cory Tchida has served as Georgetown police chief
  since June 2022, when he was promoted from interim chief; a member
  of the Georgetown Police Department for more than a quarter
  century, he began his career as a patrol officer and spent a decade
  working as a sergeant, with oversight of patrol, training, traffic,
  and narcotics; he subsequently became lieutenant of patrol and
  administration and assisted in the restructuring of the
  department's firearms training program; and
         WHEREAS, Highly respected for his exceptional leadership and
  community-building skills, Chief Tchida has garnered numerous
  accolades, including the 2015 Georgetown Police Chief's Award and
  the 2013 City of Georgetown's Manager of the Year Award; he has
  further distinguished himself through his active involvement in the
  wider community and has made presentations to Citizen Police
  Academy classes, citizens' groups, and fellow peace officers;
  moreover, he is a longtime board member of Court Appointed Special
  Advocates of Williamson County; he holds a bachelor's degree from
  The University of Texas and a master's degree in criminal justice
  leadership and management from Sam Houston State University, and he
  is a graduate of Northwestern University's School of Police Staff
  and Command and of the FBI National Academy; and
         WHEREAS, Cory Tchida has demonstrated a lasting commitment to
  making Georgetown a better place for all, and in so doing, he has
  earned the deep respect and appreciation of his fellow residents;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Chief Cory Tchida on his receipt of
  the 2022 Citizen of the Year award from the Georgetown Chamber of
  Commerce and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued
  success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Chief Tchida as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
