WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the | ||
passing of Loren Rodney Overbo on May 6, 2016, at the age of 77; and | ||
WHEREAS, The son of Chester and Irene Overbo, Loren Overbo | ||
was born on July 10, 1938, in LaMoure, North Dakota; he pledged with | ||
the Kappa Sigma fraternity while a student at the University of | ||
North Dakota, where he graduated as a member of the Class of 1964; | ||
two years later, he moved to Austin and began working as a systems | ||
analyst for the Department of Veterans Affairs; he retired in 1997; | ||
and | ||
WHEREAS, Mr. Overbo married the former Joan Gierszewski in | ||
1961, and the couple became the parents of two sons, Tim and Ron, | ||
and two daughters, Cindy and Wendy; with the passing years, | ||
Mr. Overbo had the pleasure of seeing his family grow to include six | ||
grandchildren, James, Doug, Lia, Brandon, Phillip, and Casey, and a | ||
great-granddaughter, Ava; his life was further enriched by the love | ||
and companionship of his second wife, the former Carolyn | ||
Stephenson, whom he married in 2000; and | ||
WHEREAS, A scoutmaster and a valued member of the Moose | ||
Lodge, Mr. Overbo spent his spare time pursuing a variety of | ||
outdoor activities, including hunting, camping, boating, and | ||
gardening; he also had a knack for woodworking and crafts, and he | ||
was a skilled mechanic and a passionate car enthusiast; and | ||
WHEREAS, Known for his intelligence, kindness, and witty | ||
sense of humor, Loren Overbo touched countless lives during his | ||
journey on this earth, and all those fortunate enough to have known | ||
him will forever hold him close in their hearts; now, therefore, be | ||
it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas | ||
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Loren Rodney Overbo | ||
and extend deepest condolences to his relatives and many friends; | ||
and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of | ||
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Loren | ||
Overbo. | ||
