WHEREAS, A caring and purposeful life drew to a close with the | ||
passing of Cynthia Kay DeBord Waters of Grand Prairie on March 20, | ||
2017, at the age of 70; and | ||
WHEREAS, The daughter of George and Jessie DeBord, the former | ||
Cynthia Kay DeBord was born on November 24, 1946, in San Antonio, | ||
and she grew up in Helotes alongside her sister, Lynette; after | ||
graduating from John Marshall High School, she attended Abilene | ||
Christian University; in 1967, she wed Leighton Waters, with whom | ||
she shared nearly five decades of marriage; over the years, the | ||
couple were blessed with three children, Shayla Williams, Scott | ||
Waters, and Summer Mittig, and six grandchildren, Macy, Molly, | ||
Brandon, Leighton, Will, and Maggie; and | ||
WHEREAS, In 1971, the Waters family put down roots in Grand | ||
Prairie, where Ms. Waters devoted herself to raising her children | ||
while they were young; she later embarked on a rewarding career as a | ||
middle school teacher in the Grand Prairie Independent School | ||
District, from which she retired in 2006; and | ||
WHEREAS, In her free time, Ms. Waters enjoyed reading, | ||
playing card games, cooking, and camping; she also found immense | ||
pleasure in traveling with her husband, and they took frequent road | ||
trips, visiting all 50 states and almost every national park; | ||
sustained by a deep faith, she was an active member and teacher at | ||
CrossPoint Church of Christ; and | ||
WHEREAS, Cynthia Waters possessed a generosity of spirit that | ||
expressed itself in myriad ways, and she enriched the lives of | ||
countless people with her warmth and kindness; now, therefore, be | ||
it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas | ||
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Cynthia Kay DeBord | ||
Waters and extend sincere condolences to her family and many | ||
friends; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of | ||
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Cynthia | ||
Waters. |
