WHEREAS, The thousands of deaths caused by COVID-19 in Texas | ||
have created a tremendous void in families, communities, and | ||
workplaces throughout the state; among those who lost their lives | ||
in the pandemic was Rodrick L. Rodgers, a dedicated and highly | ||
respected employee of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, who | ||
passed away on November 11, 2020, at the age of 45; and | ||
WHEREAS, Officer Rodgers was a 10-year TDCJ veteran and | ||
served as the food services manager at the Eastham Unit in Lovelady; | ||
his love of cooking was demonstrated both on and off the job; he | ||
especially delighted in barbecuing, and he prepared meals for a | ||
range of special events, including community outings and | ||
fundraisers and his popular Super Bowl parties; everything he did | ||
was informed by his deep religious faith, and he considered his | ||
wife, his children, and his stepchildren to be his greatest | ||
blessings; in the workplace, he was widely respected by his | ||
coworkers, who appreciated his humility and kindness, as well as | ||
the deep interest he took in the well-being of everyone around him; | ||
and | ||
WHEREAS, Rodrick Rodgers faithfully and ably performed his | ||
duties throughout his tenure with the Texas Department of Criminal | ||
Justice, and he will long be remembered with great admiration by all | ||
who were privileged to know him; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas | ||
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of | ||
Rodrick L. Rodgers and extend deepest sympathy to his family, | ||
friends, and colleagues; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of | ||
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Rodrick L. | ||
Rodgers. |
