WHEREAS, A worthwhile project to benefit young people in El | ||
Paso reached a notable milestone on January 19, 2011, with the | ||
ribbon cutting for the new El Paso High School baseball and softball | ||
athletic fields; and | ||
WHEREAS, Located in Tom Lea Park, adjacent to the high | ||
school, this impressive new complex was made possible through an | ||
innovative lease and interlocal agreement that was reached between | ||
the El Paso Independent School District and the City of El Paso; the | ||
initiative received additional assistance from the El Paso Water | ||
Utilities Public Service Board; and | ||
WHEREAS, Funding for the fields came from a bond proposal | ||
approved by voters in 2003, and the $1.6 million facility will | ||
provide an outstanding home for Tiger athletes long into the | ||
future; and | ||
WHEREAS, The new baseball and softball complex is a prime | ||
example of the positive results that can be realized through the | ||
cooperation of citizens and public officials, and it is a welcome | ||
addition to the city of El Paso; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas | ||
Legislature hereby commemorate the opening of the new baseball and | ||
softball athletic fields at El Paso High School and commend all | ||
those who contributed to this worthwhile initiative; and, be it | ||
further | ||
RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared | ||
for the El Paso Independent School District and the City of El Paso | ||
as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of | ||
Representatives. | ||
