R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, A worthwhile project to benefit young people in El |
|
Paso reached a notable milestone on January 19, 2011, with the |
|
ribbon cutting for the new El Paso High School baseball and softball |
|
athletic fields; and |
|
WHEREAS, Located in Tom Lea Park, adjacent to the high |
|
school, this impressive new complex was made possible through an |
|
innovative lease and interlocal agreement that was reached between |
|
the El Paso Independent School District and the City of El Paso; the |
|
initiative received additional assistance from the El Paso Water |
|
Utilities Public Service Board; and |
|
WHEREAS, Funding for the fields came from a bond proposal |
|
approved by voters in 2003, and the $1.6 million facility will |
|
provide an outstanding home for Tiger athletes long into the |
|
future; and |
|
WHEREAS, The new baseball and softball complex is a prime |
|
example of the positive results that can be realized through the |
|
cooperation of citizens and public officials, and it is a welcome |
|
addition to the city of El Paso; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby commemorate the opening of the new baseball and |
|
softball athletic fields at El Paso High School and commend all |
|
those who contributed to this worthwhile initiative; and, be it |
|
further |
|
RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared |
|
for the El Paso Independent School District and the City of El Paso |
|
as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of |
|
Representatives. |
