WHEREAS, Texas is a state composed of people of many | ||
religious beliefs, including a large population of Muslims who are | ||
ethnically, professionally, socioeconomically, and politically | ||
diverse; and | ||
WHEREAS, Members of the Muslim community from throughout the | ||
state are gathering in Austin on January 31, 2013, for Texas Muslim | ||
Capitol Day to enhance understanding and cultural awareness and to | ||
join together with their fellow Texans to work for the common good; | ||
and | ||
WHEREAS, This noteworthy event provides an opportunity for | ||
Texans of the Muslim faith to learn more about the legislative | ||
process and to meet and share information with elected officials; | ||
and | ||
WHEREAS, Participants in today's activities will bring their | ||
perspectives to the dialogue on important policy issues, and in so | ||
doing, they are working toward a brighter and more prosperous | ||
future for all residents of the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be | ||
it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas | ||
Legislature hereby recognize January 31, 2013, as Texas Muslim | ||
Capitol Day and extend to each visitor best wishes for an enjoyable | ||
and memorable day in Austin. |
