WHEREAS, The International Junior Miss Scholarship Program | ||
is dedicated to encouraging achievement among girls and young women | ||
by helping them to build poise and self-confidence; and | ||
WHEREAS, Each year, the International Junior Miss | ||
organization awards scholarships to contestants who have achieved | ||
distinction in academics or volunteer service, who have | ||
demonstrated remarkable talent, or who have shown special ability | ||
in categories such as modeling and public speaking; and | ||
WHEREAS, The Lone Star State is well represented in the | ||
International Junior Miss Scholarship Program; many exceptional | ||
young Texans have competed in the six age categories, taking | ||
advantage of opportunities to gain experience both on stage and in | ||
an interview setting; and | ||
WHEREAS, Through participation in International Junior Miss, | ||
contestants are learning valuable skills and developing a | ||
commitment to excellence that will serve them well as they work | ||
toward their goals in the years to come; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas | ||
Legislature hereby recognize May 8, 2015, as International Junior | ||
Miss Texas Day. | ||
