WHEREAS, Destiny Montemayor has distinguished herself in her | ||
responsibilities as a legislative assistant in the office of State | ||
Representative Jarvis Johnson during the 88th Legislative Session; | ||
and | ||
WHEREAS, Ms. Montemayor joined the staff as a participant in | ||
the Texas Legislative Internship Program; during her time at the | ||
State Capitol, she has provided vital assistance in handling a wide | ||
variety of challenging tasks, including helping with constituent | ||
relations, meeting with advocacy groups and stakeholders, | ||
analyzing bills, and drafting talking points; in addition to | ||
gaining valuable experience in the field of public service, she has | ||
learned more about the legislative process and the issues facing | ||
citizens of the Lone Star State; and | ||
WHEREAS, Ms. Montemayor holds a bachelor's degree in | ||
broadcast journalism with a minor in Spanish as well as a master's | ||
degree in educational leadership and policy studies, and she is | ||
currently pursuing a juris doctor degree at the Southern University | ||
Law Center; while completing her studies, she has served as | ||
executive editor for the Journal of Race, Gender & Poverty, and she | ||
has been elected president of the university's Latino Law Student | ||
Association; she is also a member of the Student Bar Association | ||
board; and | ||
WHEREAS, During her eight-year career as an educator, | ||
Ms. Montemayor taught at middle schools in the | ||
Grapevine-Colleyville, Keller, and Birdville Independent School | ||
Districts; a former Division I track and field athlete, she later | ||
served as a coach for a wide variety of sports, and she is active in | ||
her church and community; during her leisure hours, she likes to | ||
dance, exercise, write, and spend time outdoors; and | ||
WHEREAS, Destiny Montemayor has performed her duties as a | ||
legislative assistant with skill and dedication, and she is indeed | ||
deserving of special recognition for her fine work; now, therefore, | ||
be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas | ||
Legislature hereby commend Destiny Montemayor for her service as a | ||
legislative assistant in the office of State Representative Jarvis | ||
Johnson and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success | ||
in all her endeavors; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for Ms. Montemayor as an expression of high regard by the | ||
Texas House of Representatives. | ||
