R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the
  passing of Rachel Greenspan Perelman of Brownsville on April 20,
  2017, at the age of 80; and
         WHEREAS, The daughter of Tania and Nathan Greenspan, the
  former Rachel Greenspan was born in 1937 in Ario de Rosales,
  Michoacán, Mexico, and grew up in Brownsville; in 1957, she met the
  love of her life, Manuel Perelman; the couple married the following
  year and went on to spend nearly six decades together until his
  death; over the years, they had the pleasure of watching their
  family grow to include three children, Jacob, Janie, and Aida, as
  well as five grandchildren, Ariel, Joshua, Charlie, Hannah, and
  Alyssa; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Perelman enjoyed a rewarding career in real
  estate; she founded Rachel Perelman Realty and became a pioneer in
  her field, earning the distinction of being the first female member
  and chair of the Texas Real Estate Commission; moreover, she was
  given honorary membership in the Brownsville-South Padre Island
  Board of Realtors for her exemplary leadership in the industry; and
         WHEREAS, Dedicated to her fellow citizens, this notable Texan
  was also enthusiastically involved in politics; she served on the
  Executive Committee of the Texas Democratic Party and was a
  delegate to several national conventions; and
         WHEREAS, Although Rachel Perelman will be greatly missed, her
  strength and resilience will continue to inspire all who knew her,
  and her loved ones may take comfort in the many treasured moments
  they shared with this kind and compassionate woman; now, therefore,
  be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Rachel Greenspan
  Perelman and extend sincere condolences to her relatives and many
  friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Rachel
  Perelman.
