WHEREAS, The Amarillo Convention & Visitor Council plays a | ||
vital role in the success of the travel and tourism industry | ||
throughout the Texas Panhandle; and | ||
WHEREAS, Operated by the Amarillo Chamber of Commerce, the | ||
Amarillo Convention & Visitor Council provides key support for the | ||
tourism sector, which annually generates more than $700 million in | ||
the local economy; the council promotes unique travel excursions | ||
that showcase Western heritage and the arts, Route 66 nostalgia, | ||
and the Panhandle's majestic outdoor beauty along Interstates 40 | ||
and 27; moreover, the CVC brings the world to Amarillo through its | ||
website, www.VisitAmarillo.com, offers visitor information at the | ||
Rick Husband Amarillo International Airport, and distributes the | ||
Amarillo Visitor Guide and Visitor Map across the globe; and | ||
WHEREAS, Council staff help attract major events to town by | ||
coordinating efforts with such entities as the Amarillo Civic | ||
Center Complex and Tri-State Fairgrounds; additionally, the | ||
council enjoys a close working relationship with the Amarillo Film | ||
Commission, which acts as a liaison between area professionals and | ||
outside production companies, and the council advocates for local | ||
nonprofit arts organizations; and | ||
WHEREAS, Ably led by senior vice president Dan Quandt, the | ||
council staff includes deputy director Kashion Smith, executive | ||
assistant Mary Ramirez, administrative assistant Tessa Davis, | ||
director of brand management Hope Stokes, sales managers Ashley | ||
Gutierrez and Hollie Hawkins, director of convention services | ||
Stephanie Andrews, and tourism coordinator Braley Hand; and | ||
WHEREAS, Serving as an invaluable resource for the Texas | ||
Panhandle, the Amarillo Convention & Visitor Council is dedicated | ||
to providing memorable experiences for tourists while fostering | ||
growth and vitality in the regional travel industry; now, | ||
therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas | ||
Legislature hereby commend the Amarillo Convention & Visitor | ||
Council for its contributions to the Texas Panhandle and extend to | ||
all those associated with the organization sincere best wishes for | ||
continued success; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for the council as an expression of high regard by the | ||
Texas House of Representatives. |
