R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the
  death of Madeline Cleveland Harris of Houston on September 24,
  2009, at the age of 85; and
         WHEREAS, Born on July 22, 1924, in Glen Flora to Earl and
  Mamie Cleveland, Madeline Harris was a resident of Houston for 67
  years; she married I. B. Harris, and the couple shared a rewarding
  life together until his passing in 1970; she was also preceded in
  death by her brother, Earl George Cleveland; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Harris enjoyed a notable career in the
  insurance field, working for 31 years for The Atlantic Companies
  and spending a decade with J. H. Blades and Co.; a member and former
  president of the Houston National Association of Insurance Women,
  she was honored with the organization's Insurance Professional of
  the Year Award in 1990; in addition, Mrs. Harris was a valued member
  of St. Stephen's United Methodist Church; and
         WHEREAS, Madeline Harris lived a caring and purposeful life,
  and cherished memories of time spent in her company will long endure
  in the hearts of those who held her dear; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Madeline Cleveland
  Harris and extend deepest sympathy to all who mourn her passing.
