WHEREAS, Rachel Grant of Prosper High School has been honored | ||
as the 2011-2012 Speech, Debate, and Theatre Educator of the Year | ||
for Texas by the National Federation of State High School | ||
Associations (NFHS); and | ||
WHEREAS, Established in 1988, this prestigious award | ||
recognizes educators who have achieved outstanding results in the | ||
classroom and beyond; individuals are nominated by the NFHS state | ||
contacts, which is the University Interscholastic League in Texas, | ||
and nominees are then judged by the organization's Speech Committee | ||
on a number of criteria, including years of service, involvement in | ||
relevant school activities, and contributions to their profession; | ||
and | ||
WHEREAS, Rachel "Racy" Grant has been an educator for 18 | ||
years and is a truly deserving recipient of this accolade; | ||
currently the assistant principal at Prosper High, she previously | ||
coached UIL speech and debate teams at Hallsville and Waskom High | ||
Schools, guiding her students to win multiple state championships | ||
and more than 23 individual medals; in addition, she has served as | ||
the district chair of the National Forensic League, which | ||
recognized her work with a Diamond Coach Award and Leading Chapter | ||
Award; moreover, she represented Texas at the NFHS CX Debate Topic | ||
Selection Meeting and has served the Texas Speech Communication | ||
Association in numerous leadership roles; and | ||
WHEREAS, A mentor and coach to new teachers and students | ||
alike, Racy Grant has inspired countless young Texans to achieve | ||
their full potential by harnessing the power of articulate and | ||
thoughtful discourse, and she may reflect with justifiable pride on | ||
her accomplishments; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas | ||
Legislature hereby congratulate Rachel Grant on her receipt of the | ||
2011-2012 Speech, Debate, and Theatre Educator of the Year Award | ||
for Texas from the National Federation of State High School | ||
Associations and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued | ||
success; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for Ms. Grant as an expression of high regard by the Texas | ||
House of Representatives. | ||
