R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Taylor Nunez of Randolph High School in Universal
  City achieved great distinction by winning four gold medals at the
  2023 University Interscholastic League Track & Field State Meet;
  and
         WHEREAS, Joining the other top high school competitors in
  Texas at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin on May 11, Ms. Nunez
  captured three of her gold medals in individual events; she set
  Class 3A state meet records in the long jump by soaring 20 feet, 2.5
  inches, as well as in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.44
  seconds, breaking the meet mark she set at last year's competition;
  moreover, she won the 200 meters with a blistering time of 23.42
  seconds, which would have resulted in another record had it not been
  ruled to be aided by the wind; and
         WHEREAS, In the 400-meter relay, Ms. Nunez ran the anchor leg
  for the Randolph squad, and she and teammates Jaela Smith, Cai
  Rogers, and Jourdann Cathro collected the state crown with a total
  time of 47.27 seconds; the victory was part of dominant showing by
  the Ro-Hawk athletes, who clinched the 3A team championship by a
  wide margin; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Nunez is continuing a family tradition with her
  success in track and field; her mother, Tameka Nunez, was a
  seven-time All-American while competing for The University of Texas
  at San Antonio under her maiden name, Tameka Roberts; and
         WHEREAS, By excelling in the state's premier showcase for
  high school track and field athletes, Taylor Nunez has ably
  represented her school and community, and she will cherish her
  memories of this outstanding accomplishment for years to come; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Taylor Nunez on winning four gold
  medals at the 2023 UIL Track & Field State Meet and extend to her
  sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Nunez as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
