| WHEREAS, The 50th annual Strawberry Festival is taking place | ||
| in Pasadena on May 18 through 21, 2023; and | ||
| WHEREAS, First held as a one-time celebration on a football | ||
| practice field, the Pasadena Strawberry Festival has grown to | ||
| become one of the largest annual events in the area, attracting more | ||
| than 50,000 visitors each year; the festival celebrates the city's | ||
| agricultural history and a time when it was known as the Strawberry | ||
| Capital of the South; and | ||
| WHEREAS, This much-anticipated event features a variety of | ||
| activities and attractions, including a barbecue cook-off, | ||
| helicopter rides, a carnival, parades, and a mud volleyball | ||
| tournament; in addition, guests can enjoy live music and other | ||
| performances; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Proceeds from the festival support local nonprofit | ||
| organizations and provide scholarships for graduates of area high | ||
| schools; and | ||
| WHEREAS, A fun occasion for all ages, the Pasadena Strawberry | ||
| Festival is a beloved community tradition, and it promises to be a | ||
| source of fond memories for all those in attendance; now, | ||
| therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas | ||
| Legislature hereby commemorate the 50th annual Strawberry Festival | ||
| in Pasadena and extend to the organizers and attendees sincere best | ||
| wishes for a successful and enjoyable event. | ||
