WHEREAS, The Galveston Park Board of Trustees is celebrating | ||
its 60th anniversary in 2023; and | ||
WHEREAS, Established by a City of Galveston ordinance in | ||
1963, the Galveston Park Board consists of nine volunteer members | ||
who oversee tourism development, beach maintenance, and park | ||
management in the community; the organization's many programs | ||
include the Galveston Island Beach Patrol, Coastal Zone Management, | ||
and Visit Galveston; in addition, the board has worked to protect | ||
coastal waters and habitats; and | ||
WHEREAS, Today, the Galveston Park Board benefits from the | ||
able leadership of chief executive officer, Kelly de Schaun, as | ||
well as board chair Marty Fluke, vice chair Jason Hardcastle, | ||
secretary Dave Jacoby, ex officio trustee Michael Bouvier, and | ||
trustees Kimberly Gaido, Spencer Priest, Jeff Ossenkop, and Jason | ||
Worthen; and | ||
WHEREAS, By contributing to the economic vitality of the | ||
local community and helping maintain the city's public areas, the | ||
Galveston Park Board of Trustees has helped to make Galveston | ||
Island a great place to live and work, and the organization is | ||
indeed deserving of recognition as it celebrates this notable | ||
milestone in its history; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas | ||
Legislature hereby congratulate the Galveston Park Board of | ||
Trustees on its 60th anniversary and extend to all those associated | ||
with the organization sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it | ||
further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for the board as an expression of high regard by the Texas | ||
House of Representatives. |
