R E S O L U T I O N

WHEREAS, The Gruver High School girls' basketball team
enjoyed an outstanding 2014-2015 season, advancing all the way to

March 7, 2015, at the Alamodome in San Antonio; and
WHEREAS, The Lady Greyhounds compiled a stellar overall
record of 31 wins and just 6 defeats, and they qualified for the
state tournament for only the second time in school history; the
team began its thrilling postseason run with commanding victories
over Shamrock and Abernathy High Schools, and the team followed
those performances with hard-fought wins over previously
undefeated squads from Wellington and Christoval High Schools; and
WHEREAS, Matching up with Canadian High School in the
regional finals, the Lady Hounds withstood a late rally to triumph
over their district rival by a score of 39-34, securing the Region
1-2A crown and punching their ticket to the state tournament; and
WHEREAS, Gruver faced off against Weimar High School in the
state semifinals, and the two squads fought to a stalemate at the
end of regulation; with the team clinging to a one-point lead late
in the overtime period, Lady Greyhound player Reagan Haynes
intercepted a pass and then made two clutch free throws to clinch a
51-48 victory and a berth in the state finals; there, the Gruver
athletes put up a determined effort but ultimately fell to Martin's
Mill High School to bring their memorable season to a close; and
WHEREAS, Guided by head coach Trent Lankford and assistant
coaches Bekah Morrison, Terry Davis, and Tori Skarke, the Lady
Hounds received essential contributions throughout the season from
each member of the team; in addition to Ms. Haynes, the roster

Irwin, Bailey Stedje, Sarah Jackson, Kennedy Venneman, Patty
Garcia, Kailey Whitehead, Hadlee Spivey, Christina Ayala, Landry
Davis, Klaire King, and Mattie Mayfield; and
WHEREAS, The dedicated members of the Gruver High School
girls' basketball team proved themselves one of the top 2A squads in
Texas during the 2014-2015 campaign, and they may reflect with
pride on their notable accomplishments; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate the Gruver High School girls'
basketball team on its successful season and extend to the team's

  and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
