WHEREAS, Victoria Velazquez of Lasara has distinguished | ||
herself as a member of the first cohort of Luminary Scholars at The | ||
University of Texas Rio Grande Valley; and | ||
WHEREAS, This noteworthy scholarship program covers tuition | ||
and fees for four years of undergraduate education as well as | ||
additional years of professional or graduate studies; the program | ||
was unveiled in 2021 with the goal of improving student success and | ||
increasing educational opportunities; and | ||
WHEREAS, To earn selection as a Luminary Scholar, students | ||
must demonstrate exceptional academic ability, responsibility and | ||
leadership, and community involvement while in high school, and | ||
participants also commit to working in the Rio Grande Valley | ||
following their graduation; enrolled in the Vaqueros MD program, | ||
Ms. Velazquez is currently studying biology at UTRGV; and | ||
WHEREAS, Throughout her academic career, Victoria Velazquez | ||
has displayed admirable dedication and perseverance in the pursuit | ||
of her goals, and she may indeed reflect with great pride on her | ||
outstanding record of achievement; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas | ||
Legislature hereby honor Victoria Velazquez for her | ||
accomplishments as a Luminary Scholar at The University of Texas | ||
Rio Grande Valley and extend to her sincere best wishes for | ||
continued success; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for Ms. Velazquez as an expression of high regard by the | ||
Texas House of Representatives. |
