| WHEREAS, Buna High School senior Bobby Denard achieved great | ||
| distinction with her first-place finish at the 2017 Texas High | ||
| School Women's Powerlifting Association State Meet, held on March | ||
| 18 in Waco; and | ||
| WHEREAS, In an exceptional show of strength and | ||
| determination, Ms. Denard tallied 1,130 pounds to claim the 3A | ||
| title in her weight class; her total included lifts of 470 pounds in | ||
| the squat, 340 pounds in the dead lift, and a record-breaking 320 | ||
| pounds in the bench press, in which she outlifted her nearest rival | ||
| by 85 pounds; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Ms. Denard qualified for the state meet with her | ||
| outstanding performance at the regional championships on March 1; | ||
| there, she broke the regional records in both the squat and the | ||
| bench press categories and placed first after compiling 980 total | ||
| pounds; and | ||
| WHEREAS, With her dedication and unwavering commitment to | ||
| excellence, Bobby Denard is a source of great pride to her school | ||
| and her community, and her impressive accomplishments are indeed | ||
| deserving of recognition; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas | ||
| Legislature hereby congratulate Bobby Denard on winning the Texas | ||
| High School Women's Powerlifting Association 3A state championship | ||
| in the 259+ weight class and extend to her sincere best wishes for | ||
| continued success; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for Ms. Denard as an expression of high regard by the Texas | ||
| House of Representatives. | ||
