R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, The death of Rio Grande City police officer Robert
  A. Ramirez on April 28, 2011, at the age of 51, has deeply saddened
  his many loved ones; and
         WHEREAS, The son of Calixtra and Rene Rodrigo Ramirez, Robert
  Ramirez began his career in law enforcement as a deputy with the
  Starr County Sheriff's Office in 1987; he joined the Texas
  Department of Criminal Justice as a prison guard in Beeville in
  1994, and the following year, he went to work for the Rio Grande
  City Police Department; and
         WHEREAS, Among the first group of officers to patrol the
  city's streets, this outstanding professional was promoted to
  patrol sergeant in 1998; he was eventually named sergeant
  detective, and his duties included serving as a supervisor in the
  Criminal Investigation Department; he planned to retire in August
  2011; and
         WHEREAS, Robert Ramirez enjoyed the love and support of his
  wife, Diana Gutierrez, and their four daughters, Veronica, Valerie,
  Brenda, and Angelica; and
         WHEREAS, A devoted family man and an exemplary public
  servant, Sergeant Detective Robert Ramirez will long be remembered
  by all those who were fortunate enough to know him; now, therefore,
  be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of
  Sergeant Detective Robert A. Ramirez and extend sincere
  condolences to the members of his family: to his wife, Diana
  Gutierrez; to his daughters, Veronica and her husband, Andrae,
  Valerie, Brenda and her husband, Rolando, and Angelica; to his
  mother, Calixtra; to his siblings, Raul and his wife, Olga, Rene and
  his wife, Araceli, Rosendo and his wife, Dana, Romeo, Rebece and her
  husband, David, Rolando and his wife, Dora, and Ramiro; to his four
  grandchildren; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Robert
  A. Ramirez.
