| WHEREAS, Al Guardino of Tascosa High School received | ||
| well-deserved recognition when he was named the 2013 Secondary | ||
| Teacher of the Year by the Amarillo Independent School District; | ||
| and | ||
| WHEREAS, A veteran of the United States armed forces, | ||
| Mr. Guardino served in the military for 23 years; wishing to | ||
| continue to make an impact, he then became a teacher, and he has | ||
| spent the past decade and a half in the classroom; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Mr. Guardino teaches geometry at Tascosa High | ||
| School, where he enjoys having an opportunity to help shape the | ||
| future through his work with the youth in his class; "Teaching is | ||
| the most fantastic way to do it," as Mr. Guardino himself has said; | ||
| "You can impact the future, because children are our future; I tell | ||
| my students that every day, and I'm part of their journey"; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Through his creativity, energy, and | ||
| resourcefulness, Al Guardino has inspired in his students a love of | ||
| learning that will serve them well throughout their lives; now, | ||
| therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas | ||
| Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Al Guardino on | ||
| his selection as the 2013 Secondary Teacher of the Year by the | ||
| Amarillo Independent School District and extend to him sincere best | ||
| wishes for continued success; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for Mr. Guardino as an expression of high regard by the | ||
| Texas House of Representatives. | ||
