WHEREAS, Brazos County constable Brian David Bachmann was | ||
killed in the line of duty on August 13, 2012, at the age of 41, and | ||
his untimely death was a tragic loss to his family and to the | ||
community; and | ||
WHEREAS, Brian Bachmann was born in North Dakota on November | ||
29, 1970, to Bradley and Carmen Bachmann; certified as a peace | ||
officer in 1992, he joined the Brazos County Sheriff's Office the | ||
following year as a detention and booking deputy; he later served as | ||
a drill instructor at the county's boot camp before becoming a | ||
patrol deputy in 1995; in that role, he started the field training | ||
program and helped write its manual; and | ||
WHEREAS, Constable Bachmann served as part of the Brazos | ||
Valley Narcotics Task Force from 1998 to 2003, during which time he | ||
twice won the national Enrique Camarena Award for his exceptional | ||
efforts to stop drug trafficking; he returned to the sheriff's | ||
office in 2005 and was subsequently named Officer of the Year; and | ||
WHEREAS, Committed to continuing education, Constable | ||
Bachmann completed thousands of hours of training and earned a | ||
master peace officer certification; he was elected constable of | ||
Precinct 1 in Brazos County in 2010; throughout his years of | ||
service, he was known for his professionalism and humble nature, as | ||
well as for his efforts to help those in need, and many believed | ||
that he would eventually be elected sheriff; and | ||
WHEREAS, Above all, Constable Bachmann treasured his wife, | ||
Donna, with whom he shared 19 years, and he took great pride in his | ||
children, Sam, Amanda, Bradley, and Caitlyn, and his grandson, | ||
Samuel; and | ||
WHEREAS, This courageous Texan exemplified the highest | ||
standards of his profession, and he will long be remembered with | ||
great admiration and affection by all those who were privileged to | ||
know him; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas | ||
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Brian David Bachmann | ||
and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his | ||
wife, Donna Bachmann; to his parents, Bradley and Carmen Bachmann; | ||
to his children, Sam Ellis, Amanda Marolyne, Bradley Colby, and | ||
Caitlyn Ashley Bachmann; to his grandson, Samuel Bachmann; to his | ||
brother, James Eric Bachmann; to his sister, Rebecca Yvette Davis, | ||
and her husband, Lawrence Davis II; and to his other relatives and | ||
friends; and, be it further | ||

prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of | ||
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Constable | ||
