WHEREAS, A life made rich through meaningful service drew to | ||
a close with the passing of T. Frank Smith IV on March 23, 2023, at | ||
the age of 71; and | ||
WHEREAS, The son of T. Frank Smith Jr. and Joanne Scherer | ||
Smith, Frank Smith was born in Brownsville on August 19, 1951; as a | ||
child, he moved with his family to Corpus Christi, and he was a | ||
member of the Class of 1969 at Ray High School; he went on to earn a | ||
bachelor's degree in geology from The University of Texas at | ||
Austin; and | ||
WHEREAS, Following his graduation in 1974, Mr. Smith joined | ||
the family business at KRIS-TV, where he served in a variety of | ||
roles, including as sales executive, design and advertising | ||
manager, and vice president; in addition, he was a successful real | ||
estate investor, developer, and entrepreneur, owning and managing a | ||
number of businesses and properties in the Corpus Christi area; and | ||
WHEREAS, A passionate advocate for his community, Mr. Smith | ||
gave generously of his time and talents to such charitable and civic | ||
organizations as the Downtown Lions Club, the Sunrise Rotary Club, | ||
the Palmer Drug Abuse Program, the Texas State Museum of Asian | ||
Cultures, and the Art Museum of South Texas; sustained by a deep | ||
faith, he was a valued congregant of First Christian Church of | ||
Portland, where he served as an elder; and | ||
WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Smith enjoyed the love and | ||
support of his wife, Linda, with whom he shared a fulfilling union | ||
that spanned 32 years; he took great pride in his two sons, Frank | ||
and Paul, as well as in his "bonus daughter," Leslie, and he | ||
delighted in time spent with his nine grandchildren; and | ||
WHEREAS, Although he will be deeply missed, the passage of | ||
time will never diminish the joy and love that Frank Smith brought | ||
into the lives of all who knew him; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas | ||
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of T. Frank Smith IV | ||
and extend condolences to the members of his family: to his wife, | ||
Linda K. Jordan; to his children, T. Frank Smith V and his wife, | ||
Rebecca, Paul Smith and his wife, Jennifer, and Leslie Jordan | ||
Willett and her husband, Michael; to his siblings, Toni Legrand and | ||
David Smith and his wife, Molly; to his grandchildren, Madelyn | ||
Willett, Lauren Willett, Alyssa Willett, Alexandra Smith, T. Frank | ||
Smith VI, Hazen Smith, Langley Smith, Nelwyn Smith, and Merrill | ||
Smith; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of | ||
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Frank | ||
Smith. | ||
