WHEREAS, Texans everywhere are indebted to the men and women | ||
of the law enforcement profession, for by their selfless devotion | ||
to the public welfare, they enable us to enjoy the benefits of a | ||
peaceful and orderly society; and | ||
WHEREAS, Too seldom recognized, and sometimes taken for | ||
granted by the public they so faithfully serve, these gallant | ||
individuals daily risk their lives in order to ensure domestic | ||
tranquility and to protect the lives and property of others; and | ||
WHEREAS, Assistant Commander Kenneth J. Starrs of the South | ||
Texas Specialized Crimes and Narcotics Task Force exemplified in | ||
his personal and professional conduct the singular virtues of | ||
courage, integrity, and steadfast resolve, and throughout his 38 | ||
years, 7 months on the force, his meritorious service embodied the | ||
highest ideals of his vocation; and | ||
WHEREAS, Killed in the line of duty on November 16, 2016, | ||
Commander Starrs will long be missed by his family, his fellow peace | ||
officers, and the entire community; and | ||
WHEREAS, Though his life ended far too soon, Commander Starrs | ||
left behind a record of public service that is deserving of his | ||
fellow citizens' lasting respect and gratitude; now, therefore, be | ||
it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas | ||
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Assistant Commander | ||
Kenneth J. Starrs and extend deepest sympathy to his relatives, | ||
friends, and fellow officers; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of | ||
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Assistant | ||
Commander Kenneth J. Starrs. | ||
