WHEREAS, Members of the Texas Retired Teachers Association | ||
are celebrating their 60th anniversary as an advocacy group for | ||
retired educators and the public education system; and | ||
WHEREAS, A resource and a voice for more than 300,000 retired | ||
school personnel, the TRTA has a membership of approximately 80,000 | ||
retired teachers; one out of every 16 Texans over the age of 65 is a | ||
member of the organization; and | ||
WHEREAS, Members of each TRTA district across the state work | ||
in behalf of students, future educators, active educators, and | ||
their fellow retired teachers; moreover, the TRTA energetically | ||
promotes the financial soundness of the pension plan and retiree | ||
health care program through its support of a strong Teacher | ||
Retirement System; and | ||
WHEREAS, Demonstrating an unwavering commitment to education | ||
and educators, the Texas Retired Teachers Association has made | ||
immeasurable contributions to the citizens of the Lone Star State | ||
over the past six decades, and it is indeed a pleasure to honor | ||
members of this noteworthy organization; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas | ||
Legislature hereby recognize the Texas Retired Teachers | ||
Association on the occasion of its 60th anniversary and extend | ||
sincere best wishes to its members. | ||
