| relating to a study on sexually transmitted diseases among elderly | ||
| persons in this state. | ||
| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 81, Health and Safety | ||
| Code, is amended by adding Section 81.025 to read as follows: | ||
| Sec. 81.025. STUDY ON SEXUALLY TRANSMITTED DISEASES AMONG | ||
| ELDERLY PERSONS. (a) The department and the commission shall | ||
| conduct a study regarding: | ||
| (1) the incidence and prevalence of sexually | ||
| transmitted diseases among elderly persons in this state, including | ||
| persons who reside in a facility licensed under Chapter 242 or 247; | ||
| and | ||
| (2) methods for reducing the risk of contracting a | ||
| sexually transmitted disease for elderly persons in this state, | ||
| including persons who reside in a facility licensed under Chapter | ||
| 242 or 247. | ||
| (b) Not later than September 1, 2018, the commissioner and | ||
| executive commissioner shall submit to the legislature a report | ||
| that: | ||
| (1) summarizes the findings of the study conducted | ||
| under Subsection (a); and | ||
| (2) includes recommendations and strategies for | ||
| reducing the incidence and prevalence of sexually transmitted | ||
| diseases among elderly persons in this state, including persons who | ||
| reside in a facility licensed under Chapter 242 or 247. | ||
| (c) This section expires September 1, 2019. | ||
| SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. | ||
