A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to a study on sexually transmitted diseases among elderly |
|
|
persons in this state. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 81, Health and Safety |
|
|
Code, is amended by adding Section 81.025 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 81.025. STUDY ON SEXUALLY TRANSMITTED DISEASES AMONG |
|
|
ELDERLY PERSONS. (a) The department and the commission shall |
|
|
conduct a study regarding: |
|
|
(1) the incidence and prevalence of sexually |
|
|
transmitted diseases among elderly persons in this state, including |
|
|
persons who reside in a facility licensed under Chapter 242 or 247; |
|
|
and |
|
|
(2) methods for reducing the risk of contracting a |
|
|
sexually transmitted disease for elderly persons in this state, |
|
|
including persons who reside in a facility licensed under Chapter |
|
|
242 or 247. |
|
|
(b) Not later than September 1, 2018, the commissioner and |
|
|
executive commissioner shall submit to the legislature a report |
|
|
that: |
|
|
(1) summarizes the findings of the study conducted |
|
|
under Subsection (a); and |
|
|
(2) includes recommendations and strategies for |
|
|
reducing the incidence and prevalence of sexually transmitted |
|
|
diseases among elderly persons in this state, including persons who |
|
|
reside in a facility licensed under Chapter 242 or 247. |
|
|
(c) This section expires September 1, 2019. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
