| relating to the creation by the Texas Commission on Environmental | ||
| Quality of a plan to protect water treatment facilities from | ||
| catastrophes. | ||
| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. (a) The Texas Commission on Environmental | ||
| Quality shall create a plan to protect water treatment facilities | ||
| from: | ||
| (1) electrical outages; | ||
| (2) catastrophic weather events; | ||
| (3) terrorist attacks; | ||
| (4) the projected effects of climate change; and | ||
| (5) other potential disruptions to providing water | ||
| service. | ||
| (b) The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality shall | ||
| consult with other state agencies or interested persons as needed | ||
| to facilitate the creation of the plan. | ||
| (c) Not later than September 1, 2024, the Texas Commission | ||
| on Environmental Quality shall submit the plan to the governor and | ||
| the legislature. | ||
| SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. | ||
