BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Section 419.909(a), Government Code, is amended | ||
to read as follows: | ||
(a) Only an individual certified by the commission as a fire | ||
inspector may conduct a fire safety inspection required by a state | ||
or local law, rule, regulation, or ordinance. The following | ||
entities may provide training related to fire safety inspections: | ||
(1) the commission; | ||
(2) the State Firemen's and Fire Marshals' Association | ||
of Texas; | ||
(3) the National Fire Protection Association; | ||
(4) a public junior college; | ||
(5) a regional fire academy; or | ||
(6) any state agency with authority over fire safety | ||
inspections. | ||
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. | ||
If this | ||
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
