relating to the establishment of the On-Site Load Mitigation Grant | ||
Program to mitigate the demand for energy on the electric grid. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Subtitle B, Title 2, Utilities Code, is amended | ||
by adding Chapter 34 to read as follows: | ||
CHAPTER 34. ON-SITE LOAD MITIGATION PROGRAM | ||
Sec. 34.0101. DEFINITION. In this chapter, "grant program" | ||
means the On-Site Load Mitigation Program. | ||
Sec. 34.0102. ON-SITE LOAD MITIGATION PROGRAM. (a) From | ||
funds appropriated for the purpose, the commission shall establish | ||
a grant program to provide grants that mitigate the demand for | ||
energy on the electric grid by supporting the use of advanced | ||
nuclear reactors and cogeneration facilities by facilities that | ||
require large-scale loads of electricity. | ||
(b) The commission by rule shall establish eligibility | ||
criteria for projects to receive a grant under this section, | ||
including requiring that a project must: | ||
(1) reduce load on the electric grid; or | ||
(2) prevent additional load from being demanded from | ||
the electric grid. | ||
Sec. 34.0103. RULEMAKING. The commission by rule shall | ||
implement and administer the grant program. | ||
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
