relating to the medical accuracy of informational materials given | ||
to a woman seeking an abortion. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Section 171.014(d), Health and Safety Code, is | ||
amended to read as follows: | ||
(d) The department shall annually review the materials to | ||
determine if changes to the contents of the materials are | ||
necessary. The executive commissioner shall adopt rules necessary | ||
for considering and making changes to the materials, including | ||
rules requiring the department to: | ||
(1) periodically submit the materials to the American | ||
College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists to verify that the | ||
materials are medically accurate; and | ||
(2) revise the materials to incorporate any | ||
recommendations from the American College of Obstetricians and | ||
Gynecologists for improving the medical accuracy of the materials. | ||
SECTION 2. As soon as practicable after the effective date | ||
of this Act, the executive commissioner of the Health and Human | ||
Services Commission shall adopt rules necessary to implement the | ||
changes in law made by this Act. | ||
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
