relating to the suspension of an election judge or clerk. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 32, Election Code, is | ||
amended by adding Section 32.0553 to read as follows: | ||
Sec. 32.0553. SUSPENSION OF ELIGIBILITY FOR VIOLATION. (a) | ||
The secretary of state shall adopt rules and procedures to allow the | ||
official administering an election to immediately suspend and | ||
replace an election judge or clerk who fails to comply with the | ||
provisions of this code. | ||
(b) The rules and procedures adopted under this section must | ||
include a process for a review and reinstatement of a suspended | ||
election judge's or clerk's eligibility if the election judge or | ||
clerk is not finally convicted of an offense in connection with the | ||
violation. | ||
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
