relating to an accident resulting in the possible death or injury of | ||
a person. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Section 551.021(a), Transportation Code, is | ||
amended to read as follows: | ||
(a) The operator of a vehicle involved in an accident | ||
resulting in injury to or death of a person, or the possible injury | ||
to or death of a person shall: | ||
(1) immediately stop the vehicle at the scene of the | ||
accident or as close to the scene as possible; | ||
(2) immediately return to the scene of the accident; | ||
(3) immediately determine if a person is involved in | ||
the accident, and if that person requires aid, and | ||
(4) remain at the scene of the accident until the | ||
operator complies with the requirements of Section 550.023. | ||
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
Act takes effect September 1, 2013. |
