| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Subchapter D, Chapter 545, Transportation Code, | ||
| is amended by adding Section 545.158 to read as follows: | ||
| Sec. 545.158. CAPTURING IMAGES OF ILLEGAL PASSING OF | ||
| STATIONARY TOW TRUCK. (a) In this section, "tow truck" has the | ||
| meaning assigned by Section 545.157. | ||
| (b) A tow truck operator may install and operate a system | ||
| that is capable of taking photographic, video, or digital images of | ||
| vehicles that pass the tow truck in violation of Section 545.157. | ||
| (c) A law enforcement agency may use the evidence collected | ||
| under Subsection (b) to: | ||
| (1) notify the registered owner of a vehicle that the | ||
| vehicle may have violated Section 545.157; or | ||
| (2) enforce Section 545.157. | ||
| SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. | ||
