relating to the eligibility of school bus drivers and cafeteria | ||
workers for unemployment compensation benefits. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Section 207.041, Labor Code, is amended by | ||
adding Subsection (b-1) to read as follows: | ||
(b-1) Subsection (b) does not apply to an individual if the | ||
services performed by the individual for an educational institution | ||
consist only of: | ||
(1) driving a school bus transporting students to and | ||
from school or a school-sponsored or school-related activity; or | ||
(2) working as a cafeteria worker. | ||
SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only | ||
to a claim for unemployment compensation benefits filed with the | ||
Texas Workforce Commission on or after the effective date of this | ||
Act. A claim filed before the effective date of this Act is | ||
governed by the law in effect on the date the claim was filed, and | ||
the former law is continued in effect for that purpose. | ||
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
