relating to requiring training in cultural competence for certain | ||
employees of the Department of Family and Protective Services. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 40, Human Resources Code, | ||
is amended by adding Section 40.0375 to read as follows: | ||
Sec. 40.0375. TRAINING IN CULTURAL COMPETENCE. (a) In this | ||
section, "cultural competence" means the ability to understand, | ||
communicate with, and effectively interact with people from | ||
different cultures. | ||
(b) The department shall provide training in cultural | ||
competence to employees who work in the family-based safety | ||
services area. The training must educate employees on the ways in | ||
which a person's cultural differences affect the person's views on | ||
family and raising children. | ||
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
