relating to a study of seawater desalination processes used in | ||
Israel and the feasibility of using similar processes in Texas. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. DEFINITION. In this Act, "center" means the | ||
Texas State University Meadows Center for Water and the | ||
Environment. | ||
SECTION 2. STUDY. (a) The center shall conduct a study of | ||
seawater desalination processes used in Israel. | ||
(b) In conducting the study, the center shall: | ||
(1) identify the similarities and differences between | ||
the desalination processes used in Israel and the desalination | ||
processes used in this state; | ||
(2) determine the feasibility and practicability of | ||
using the processes used in Israel for the desalination of water | ||
from the Gulf of Mexico; and | ||
(3) provide any necessary information and | ||
recommendations for the use in this state of the desalination | ||
processes used in Israel. | ||
SECTION 3. REPORT. Not later than January 1, 2025, the | ||
center shall report the results of the study conducted under this | ||
Act to the governor, the lieutenant governor, the speaker of the | ||
house of representatives, and the standing committees of the senate | ||
and the house of representatives that have jurisdiction over | ||
natural resources. | ||
SECTION 4. EXPIRATION. This Act expires February 1, 2025. | ||
SECTION 5. EFFECTIVE DATE. This Act takes effect September | ||
1, 2023. |
