A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
  relating to certain data reported to the Texas Higher Education
  Coordinating Board by institutions of higher education for the
  purpose of compliance monitoring.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Section 61.035, Education Code, is amended by
  adding Subsection (b-1) to read as follows:
         (b-1)  For purposes of this section, enrollment data
  reported by institutions of higher education to the board must
  include:
               (1)  the identification of any student who is a veteran
  or military dependent; and
               (2)  a designation of the type of any military higher
  education benefit the student is eligible to receive, is currently
  receiving, or has exhausted.
         SECTION 2.  The changes in law made by this Act apply to data
  reported for students enrolled at an institution of higher
  education beginning with the 2015-2016 academic year.
         SECTION 3.  The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board
  shall adopt rules for the administration of Section 61.035,
  Education Code, as amended by this Act, as soon as practicable after
  this Act takes effect. For that purpose, the coordinating board may
  adopt the initial rules in the manner provided by law for emergency
  rules.
         SECTION 4.  This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
  a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
  provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution.  If this
  Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
  Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
