No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend Chapter 34 of the Tax Code, relating to Tax Sales and Redemption, to allow a clerk of a court to deduct from the amount of the excess proceeds from a property tax sale the cost of postage for sending to the former owner of the property a notice by certified mail of the owner's right to claim the proceeds.
