Bill Title: As introduced, subject to local approval, allows board of mayor and aldermen to appoint a chief of police to serve at the pleasure of the board instead of serving for a term of years; removes requirement that salaries of police officers and firefighters be fixed by ordinance; subjects chief of police to suspension by the mayor for disciplinary purposes. - Amends Chapter 801 of the Private Acts of 1949; as amended by Chapter 278 of the Private Acts of 1967; Chapter 228 of the Private Acts of 1978.
