Bill Title: As introduced, allows the governor to fill a vacancy in the office of an appellate court by appointing any person who is duly licensed to practice in this state and who is fully qualified under the law of this state if the governor is not satisfied with the list of nominees submitted by the judicial selection commission or the commission does not furnish a list of nominees within 60 days after receiving written notice from the governor that a vacancy has occurred; provides that if the governor appoints a judge who is not from the list of nominees submitted by the commission, the judge appointed shall run in a contested election. - Amends TCA Title 2; Title 4; Title 16 and Title 17.
