A SENATE RESOLUTION
TO CONGRATULATE MRS. MAMIE THOMAS WEST OF MULLINS UPON THE OCCASION OF HER ONE HUNDREDTH BIRTHDAY AND TO WISH HER A JOYOUS BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION AND MUCH HAPPINESS IN THE DAYS TO COME.
Whereas, the members of the Senate are pleased to learn that Mrs. Mamie Thomas West will celebrate her one hundredth birthday on April 20, 2016; and
Whereas, Mrs. West was born in Marion County to Willie Roan Thomas and Lizzie Wiggins Thomas. She was raised on a farm with two brothers and four sisters and graduated from Zion High School in 1934; and
Whereas, Mrs. West worked as a housewife and a seamstress, but her primary job was helping her husband Tom on the farm. She is well known for her gardening and cooking skills; and
Whereas, Mrs. West is the oldest member of Tranquil United Methodist Church, where she attends regularly; and
Whereas, Mrs. West was married to the late Thomas James (Tom) West, and the two were blessed with three children, Gene West, Joyce West Lett, and the late Randall (Randy) West. She has three grandchildren, Melissa West Chandler, Allyson Lett, and Michelle Lett Clark, and three great grandchildren, Weston Chandler, Logan Hennecy, and Denson Crisler; and
Whereas, Mrs. West will celebrate this wonderful occasion with family and friends on Sunday, April 17, 2016 at Tranquil United Methodist Church; and
Whereas, the Senate is pleased to honor Mrs. West at the celebration of her one hundredth birthday and joins with her family and friends in congratulating her on reaching this extraordinary milestone. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the Senate, by this resolution, congratulate Mrs. Mamie Thomas West of Mullins upon the occasion of her one hundredth birthday and wish her a joyous birthday celebration and much happiness in the days to come.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mrs. Mamie Thomas West.
