A SENATE RESOLUTION
TO CONGRATULATE THE GILBERT HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT COUNCIL, STUDENT BODY, ADVISORS, AND SCHOOL OFFICIALS ON THE SCHOOL'S FIRST ANNUAL CHARITY WEEK, TOMAHAWK FEST 2019, AND TO COMMEND THEM FOR THEIR HARD WORK AND FUNDRAISING EFFORTS FOR THE CHILDREN OF THIS STATE.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate are pleased to recognize the Gilbert High School Student Council for organizing Tomahawk Fest 2019; and
Whereas, during Tomahawk Fest 2019, students sold pizza, carnival passes, baked goods, and even chances to watch teachers chase chickens in an effort to raise funds for Katrina's Kids, a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to helping children in foster care and group homes attend summer camps, take sports and dance lessons, and participate in many other activities across the State; and
Whereas, over the course of the week, students raised over four thousand dollars to support Katrina's Kids and collected book bags and school supplies for children in need; and
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate appreciate the pride and recognition that Gilbert High School has brought to its community and the State of South Carolina and look forward to a future filled with further accomplishments by these motivated students. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, congratulate the Gilbert High School Student Council, student body, advisors, and school officials on the school's first annual charity week, Tomahawk Fest 2019, and commend them for their hard work and fundraising efforts for the children of this State.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the Gilbert High School Student Council and Student Council advisor and teacher Mrs. Erica Armstrong.
