Recognizing the month of September 2010 as "Senior Center Month"

in Pennsylvania.

WHEREAS, Older Americans are significant members of our

4

society who invest their wisdom and experience to enrich the

5

lives of younger generations; and

6

WHEREAS, Senior centers have acted as catalysts for

7

mobilizing the creativity, energy, vitality and commitment of

8

the older residents of this Commonwealth; and

9

WHEREAS, Through the wide array of services, programs and

10

activities, senior centers empower older citizens of this

11

Commonwealth to contribute to their own health and well-being

12

and the health and well-being of their fellow citizens of all

13

ages; and

14

WHEREAS, Senior centers in this Commonwealth affirm the

15

dignity, self-worth and independence of older persons by

16

facilitating their decisions and actions, tapping their

17

experiences, skills and knowledge, and enabling their continued

contributions to the community; therefore be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate recognize the month of September

3

2010 as "Senior Center Month" in Pennsylvania and call upon all

4

citizens to recognize the special contributions of the senior

5

center participants and the special efforts of the staff and

6

volunteers who work every day to enhance the well-being of the

7

older citizens of our community.
