A RESOLUTION

Mourning the loss of Marine Captain Michael M. Quin of

2

Purcellville, Virginia, who died in the line of duty on

3

February 22, 2012, at 28 years of age.

4

WHEREAS, Captain Quin, born in Media, Delaware County, was

5

raised in Easton, Northampton County; and

6

WHEREAS, Bradley Quin's flights out of Braden Airpark in

7

Easton inspired his son's passion for aviation at an early age;

8

and

9

WHEREAS, Captain Quin attained the rank of Eagle Scout as a

10

member of Boy Scout Troop 29 in Forks Township; and

11

WHEREAS, Captain Quin played soccer for the Eastern

Northampton County Soccer Club in Forks Township and the junior

2

varsity and varsity soccer teams at Easton Area High School

3

before his family moved to Virginia in 2000; and

4

WHEREAS, Captain Quin received an appointment to the United

5

States Naval Academy following his 2002 graduation from Loudoun

6

Valley High School; and

7

WHEREAS, Captain Quin was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in

8

the United States Marine Corps following his 2006 graduation

9

from the United States Naval Academy; and

10

WHEREAS, Captain Quin attended flight school in Pensacola,

11

Florida, receiving his wings in 2008; and

12

WHEREAS, Captain Quin was Flightline Officer in Charge and

13

Night System Instructor assigned to Marine Light Attack

14

Helicopter Squadron 469, based at Camp Pendleton, California;

15

and

16

WHEREAS, Captain Quin earned the Navy and Marine Corps

17

Commendation Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal

18

(second award), the National Defense Service Medal and the

19

Global War on Terrorism Service Medal; and

20

WHEREAS, Captain Quin is survived by his parents, Bradley and

21

Betsy Quin; his sisters, Phoebe and Sarah; and his fiancée Kate

22

Richardson; and

23

WHEREAS, Memorial services for Captain Quin at Camp Pendleton

24

and in Purcellville preceded his March 21, 2012, funeral mass

25

and ceremonial interment at Arlington National Cemetery; and

26

WHEREAS, The House of Representatives honors the life and

27

service of Captain Quin, one of seven fallen members of the 3rd

28

Marine Aircraft Wing who died in an aviation training accident

29

on February 22, 2012, at Chocolate Mountain Aerial Gunnery Range

30

in California, which is part of the Yuma Training Range Complex;

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives mourn the loss of

3

Marine Captain Michael M. Quin of Purcellville, Virginia, who

4

died in the line of duty near Yuma, Arizona, on February 22,

5

2012, at 28 years of age; and be it further

6

RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be transmitted to

7

the family of Marine Captain Michael M. Quin at 505 Canterbury

8

Circle, Purcellville, VA 20132.
