A RESOLUTION

Extending condolences to the family of Charles P. Hornberger,

2

dedicated firefighter and emergency responder, who died July

3

12, 2010.

4

WHEREAS, Charles P. Hornberger, 60 years of age, of the

5

Woodlyn section of Ridley Township, Delaware County, died July

6

12, 2010; and

7

WHEREAS, Mr. Hornberger was a 911 dispatcher for Delaware

8

County for four years preceding his death and was previously a

9

911 dispatcher for Ridley Township; and

10

WHEREAS, Mr. Hornberger was a past member of the Woodlyn Fire

11

Company and of the Rutledge Fire Company, where he served as

12

assistant engineer; and

WHEREAS, He served as president, recording secretary,

2

assistant chief and assistant engineer of the Holmes Fire

3

Company and as fire chief, deputy fire chief and recording

4

secretary of the S.M. Vauclain Fire Company; and

5

WHEREAS, Mr. Hornberger also served as recording secretary,

6

financial secretary, board member, deputy fire chief, captain,

7

lieutenant and assistant engineer of the Milmont Fire Company;

8

and

9

WHEREAS, He was assistant fire marshal for Ridley Township

10

and fire marshal for the Third District; and

11

WHEREAS, Past president of the Ridley Township Fire Companies

12

Association, he was a life member of the Delaware Valley Fire

13

Chiefs Association, where he served as recording secretary and

14

Pennsylvania director; and

15

WHEREAS, Mr. Hornberger was a member of the Delaware County

16

Firemans Association, the Keystone Fire Chiefs Association and

17

the Shamrock Judges Association, where he served as recording

18

secretary; and

19

WHEREAS, He was a delegate for the Milmont Fire Company for

20

the Pennsylvania State Firemans Association and was a member and

21

secretary of the Ridley Township Firemans Relief Association;

22

and

23

WHEREAS, Born in Darby, he was a longtime resident of Ridley

24

Township, Delaware County, and was a 1967 graduate of Ridley

25

High School; and

26

WHEREAS, Mr. Hornberger served in the United States Army

27

during the Vietnam era; and

28

WHEREAS, Mr. Hornberger is predeceased by his wife of 35

29

years, Maureen, and survived by his daughter, MaryAnne, three

30

grandchildren, his sister and extended family; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Hornberger devoted his life to the service of

2

Ridley Township, Delaware County and this Commonwealth;

3

therefore be it

4

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives extend

5

condolences to the family of Charles P. Hornberger, dedicated

6

firefighter and emergency responder, who died July 12, 2010.
