| A RESOLUTION |
| |
1 | Congratulating Penn Manor's rocket team on its national and |
2 | international competition victories. |
3 | WHEREAS, In July 2010, the four-person rocketry club from |
4 | Penn Manor High School in Millersville placed first in the |
5 | national Team America Rocketry Challenge, which the team won by |
6 | flying its rocket without breaking the raw egg inside; and |
7 | WHEREAS, Seniors Jordan Franssen, Brendan Stoeckl, Nate |
8 | Bernhardt and Tyler Funk, led by physics teacher Brian |
9 | Osmolinski, began designing the rocket in the fall of 2009 and |
10 | built it in January and February of 2010; and |
11 | WHEREAS, The team traveled to Great Britain for the |
12 | international competition at the Farnborough International Air |
13 | Show; and |
14 | WHEREAS, Against teams from England and France, the members |
15 | of the Penn Manor team flew their rockets the closest to the |
16 | competition goal of flying 825 feet with a total air time of 40 |

1 | to 50 seconds, posting the best score to win the international |
2 | fly-off; and |
3 | WHEREAS, The international rocketry challenge is the |
4 | culmination of three separate competitions, the Team America |
5 | Rocketry Challenge, UKAYRoC and the French Rocketry Challenge; |
6 | therefore be it |
7 | RESOLVED, That the the House of Representatives congratulate |
8 | Penn Manor's rocket team on its national and international |
9 | competition victories; and be it further |
10 | RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be sent to Penn |
11 | Manor High School, 100 East Cottage Avenue, Millersville, PA, |
12 | 17551-1518. |
