AN ACT

Amending Title 18 (Crimes and Offenses) of the Pennsylvania

2

Consolidated Statutes, further providing for duties of

3

Pennsylvania State Police.

The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania

5

hereby enacts as follows:

6

Section 1.  Section 6111.1(f) of Title 18 of the Pennsylvania

7

Consolidated Statutes is amended by adding a paragraph to read:

8

§ 6111.1.  Pennsylvania State Police.

(f)  Notification of mental health adjudication, treatment,

11

commitment, drug use or addiction.--

12

(4)  Notwithstanding any statute to the contrary, judges

14

of the courts of common pleas shall, within 15 days of an

15

adjudication or involuntary commitment, give written notice

16

to any individual identified in paragraph (1)(i) of the

17

following:

(i)  The individual is prohibited from possession of

2

firearms under the provisions of this chapter.

3

(ii)  The individual has a reasonable period of time,

4

not to exceed 60 days from the date of the imposition of

5

the disability, in which to sell or transfer the

6

individual's firearms to another eligible person who is

7

not a member of the prohibited person's household.

8

(iii)  The individual's firearm rights may be

9

restored under section 6105(f)(1) (relating to persons

10

not to possess, use, manufacture, control, sell or

11

transfer firearms).

Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 90 days.
