AN ACT

 

1Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
2Statutes, in financial responsibility, further providing for
3definitions.

4The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
5hereby enacts as follows:

6Section 1. The definition of "financial responsibility" in
7section 1702 of Title 75 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
8Statutes is amended to read:

9§ 1702. Definitions.

10The following words and phrases when used in this chapter
11shall have the meanings given to them in this section unless the
12context clearly indicates otherwise:

14"Financial responsibility." The ability to respond in
15damages for liability on account of accidents arising out of the
16maintenance or use of a motor vehicle in the amount of $15,000
17because of injury to one person in any one accident, in the
18amount of $30,000 because of injury to two or more persons in

1any one accident and in the amount of [$5,000] $9,000 because of
2damage to property of others in any one accident. The financial
3responsibility shall be in a form acceptable to the Department
4of Transportation.

6Section 2. The amendment of the definition of "financial
7responsibility" in 75 Pa.C.S. § 1702 shall apply to any private
8passenger motor vehicle liability insurance policy issued or
9renewed 90 days after the effective date of this section.

10Section 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
