AN ACT

Amending the act of November 10, 1999 (P.L.491, No.45), entitled

2

"An act establishing a uniform construction code; imposing

3

powers and duties on municipalities and the Department of

4

Labor and Industry; providing for enforcement; imposing

5

penalties; and making repeals," providing for additional

6

building requirements.

The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania

8

hereby enacts as follows:

Section 1.  Section 306 of the act of November 10, 1999

10

(P.L.491, No.45), known as the Pennsylvania Construction Code

11

Act, is amended by adding a section to read:

Section 306.  Additional building requirements.

13

An approved, automatic fire sprinkler system shall be

14

installed, repaired, operated and maintained in new one-family

15

and two-family dwellings and townhouses, in accordance with the

16

National Fire Prevention Association standard NFPA 13D, when

17

required by the international fire code. Separate permits shall

18

be obtained for installation, repair, operation and maintenance

19

when required by the international fire code.

Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
